Keefe, a native of Saugus, MA, grew up playing his youth hockey for the Middlesex Icemen out of East Boston and the Boston Jr Eagles club programs.  As a member of the Boston Jr Eagles 2006 Elite Team he was coached by NHL Hall of Famer, Jarome Iginla.

In 2021-22, Keefe suited up for Malden Catholic High School.  He was able to contribute right away, tallying 6 goals and adding 22 assists for 28 points in just 21 games played as a Freshman with the Lancers.  After a very strong catholic school season, Keefe signed a tender with the USHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks for the 2022-23 season. The USHL tender process allows teams to sign a highly touted prospect prior to the annual draft, in exchange for their first round selection.

In his USHL rookie campaign last season, Keefe hit the ground running as a member of the Muskegon Lumberjacks. He registered 4 goals and added 9 assists for 13 points in 59 USHL games as a 16-year old playing against the strongest 19 and 20 year old players from across the world.

A rock-solid defensive defenseman, Keefe has hit his stride and is excelling in the USHL this season, his second in the league. Owen started off hot with 4 points in his first 10 games with Muskegon. Midway through the season, Keefe was acquired via trade by the Sioux City Musketeers as they began to add pieces in preparation for a 2024 Clark Cup run.  Since joining Sioux City, Owen has tallied 2 goals and 6 assists for 8 points in 35 games.

Owen is the son of Northeastern Head Coach, Jerry Keefe, who moonlit in the spring/summer as our Boston Junior Whalers 2006 Elite Team Head Coach during Owen's youth hockey years. Now, the father-son duo will reunite at the NCAA  level and share the common goal of hunting Beanpot trophies, Hockey East titles, and chasing National Championships together.
