Ann Arbor, MI -  The Boston Junior Whalers are proud to share that 2005-born forward, Alex Weiermair, has committed to the University of Denver for the Fall of 2023.

Alex, a Los Angeles native, is currently playing his second consecutive season on the high-powered United States National Team Development Program, based out of Ann Arbor. He grew up playing for the LA Jr. Kings youth program before matriculating to the GTHL as a minor midget, where he suited up for the Toronto Titans.  His play while in Toronto turned enough heads, and he was selected as a member of the US National Team Development Program for the 2021-22 season.  During his first season with the NTDP, Weiermair tallied 23 goals, 12 assists, and 35 points.

Alex returned back to Ann Arbor this season, and so far has tallied 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points in the USHL as well as the team's traveling schedule where they face off with current Division I teams.

He first wore a Boston Junior Whalers uniform back in 2016 as a squirt major, and became an annual offensive dynamo with our BJW 2005 Elite Team, coached by former Harvard captain, Pete McLaughlin.

"Alex is a cerebral player with exceptional playmaking ability", said BJW's Mike Cusack. "Alex would fly out to Boston year after year in the summers, and by the time he became a bantam it was evident that he had separated himself, and had real pro potential," Cusack continued.

We would like to wish Alex, his father Rob, and the rest of the Weiermair family congratulations on such a notable accomplishment, and we will be rooting for the Pioneers next fall!
