Manchester, NH - The Boston Junior Whalers 2007 Elites returned to action this past weekend up at the Blue Line Elite K-Cup in New Hampshire, and walked away on Sunday afternoon as champions.
The weekend began with a 6-3 win over the defending champs, the Boston Outlaws, on Friday afternoon. Friday evening had a tight back-and-forth contest with a scrappy and hard-working NH Knights team, in which the BJW 07's blew an early 3-0 lead, but held on to win by a score of 3-2.
On Saturday, the boys dropped the first game of the day by a score of 7-4 against the Mid-Hudson Steel, and ended the Round Robin by falling in a shootout to Boston Hockey Club to finish the Round Robin with a record of 2-1-1.
Despite a tough showing on Saturday, the 07 Elites earned the #3 Seed for the semi-finals on Sunday morning. It was clear the team was ready to earn the trophy, starting the day with a 6-0 win over the Boston Lightning in the semis, setting up a rematch with the Mid-Hudson Steel and a chance to avenge the loss from Saturday morning.
The boys came out of the gate hard, burying two quick goals early on in the first. After a tally from the Steel, the BJW 07's continued to dig deep and responded with two more of their own. 4-1 was how the score would wrap up, and the BJW '07 Elites were crowned as champions. Congratulations to all of our BJW '07 Elites on a great weekend!
